An Appeal

Dear Vaish Bandhu,

Do you know…

• That you are a member of a Community that comprises over a quarter of the national population!
• That you are a member of a Community that is the largest contributor of the GDP/ National exchequer!
• That your Community is the largest employer in the country after the Government!
• That your Community is the largest donor and contributor to philanthropic and social causes!
• That your Community is present in every nook and corner of the Country?

Yes, the Vaish Community is truly proud of its glorious heritage and huge contribution to the task of Nation Building, trade and industry.

But, despite all its achievements, there is hardly any recognition or support to the Community and its efforts.

Far from it, the Community is actually a victim of complete apathy from the government and bureaucracy.

In the post independence period, there were a sizeable numbers of Vaish MPs and MLAs in the Parliament and in the State Legislatures. At that time, there were also 4-5 Vaish Chief Ministers in the States. These numbers have come down drastically and Vaish CMs are conspicuous by their absence.

To add insult to injury, the Vaish Community is often referred to as "BANIYAS" in a most derogatory manner.

The fault, my dear friends, lies within - we are scattered, fragmented and self-centered. At times, we are not even aware of our fellow Community members.

All efforts made over the last 50 years to come together and unite, have been localized, isolated and have often localized, isolated and have often met with cynicism, skepticism … etc. At best, the efforts have been divided on regional, cultural or industry lines.

We have the strength and we have the power - both moral and financial.

How then can we ever expect to be heard, noticed, appreciated and our concerns taken into account?

The need of the hour is to come together, unite, join hands and pool its collective strength.

Now is the time for joint action, for a team effort, for concerted action.

It is a universal truth that the true power of democracy can be realized only through united efforts and single mindedness of purpose and action.

Let us all come forward, and do our bit to strengthen the VAISH COMMUNITY so that we can jointly act as one great force:

• To contribute even in greater measure to the task of Nation building.
• Be respected and recognized for our many glorious achievements and contributions.
• Have our voice heard, our concerns addressed, our interests protected when local and national policies are framed on various issues.

LET US COME TOGETHER AND UNLEASH THE POWER OF ONE VOICE… ONE FORCE… THE VAISH COMMUNITY
